Approximately 15.3% of Stark County’s population (over 57,700 people) faces food insecurity, with the issue disproportionately affecting children, nearly 24% of whom are insecure.

These aren’t just statistics; they are families, friends, coworkers, and neighbors in our community that are currently experiencing hunger. 

At Thanksgiving Heroes Stark County, we find these figures not only alarming but unacceptable. That’s why each year we strive to make a difference in the lives of those facing hunger in our local communities. One meal at a time…

While we’d love to combat hunger entirely, we’ve started by making a difference on one very important day: Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is unique because it’s about coming together for a meal. Sharing food with loved ones is at the center of celebration, not expensive gifts or grand parades. While Thanksgiving evokes joy for many of us, it can magnify distress of those facing food insecurity.

We believe every family deserves to experience the warmth and joy of a Thanksgiving meal.

Our goal is simple: No table goes empty on Thanksgiving.

We could not even come close to making an impact without the help of people like you year round. Families in tough situations are nominated by schools, clubs, churches, and more. Then, an amazing team of volunteers steps up to deliver the meals. It’s more than just food; it’s about the love and connections we build along the way. By volunteering, donating, or nominating a family in need – you will be the hero our community needs this holiday season.
